FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CINCINNATI, OH, U.S.A.– Supply Dynamics(www.supplydynamics.com) is pleased to announce the introduction of a new service, Part Attribute Characterization. This new software-driven service enables manufacturers to identify and leverage common part attributes, such as material type and manufacturing processes that are found in their products. Part Attribute Characterization allows parts to be matched with part manufacturers that will be most efficient and cost-effective in production of those particular parts. Understanding common part attributes can be a critical issue for companies seeking to outsource, insource, or transition their parts to other part manufacturers.
This process begins when customers provide digital blueprints and other engineering data to Supply Dynamics. Through the comprehensive effort of software developers, analysts, and an army of engineers, the attributes which the customer wants collected from its parts are captured with consistent formats and wording conventions. Common attributes across characterized parts can be leveraged and used by engineering, strategic sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and materials management. The applications of Part Attribute Characterization include:
- Classifying parts by attribute such as primary or secondary manufacturing process, special processes, material type, part finish, part size, material type and more.
- Matching part attributes to specific part manufacturer capabilities.
- Aggregating the raw material requirements from all parts that use the same raw materials.
- Identification of parts using non-standard raw materials or sizes.
Scott Jones, Director of Operations at Supply Dynamics explains, “The process has been proven with customers that produce everything from aircraft to railroad locomotives to nuclear reactors. Customers are always finding new applications for the data. One customer used it to verify that raw materials being ordered by its parts suppliers met the required testing specifications on a part by part basis. It discovered that they hadn’t and our customer was quickly able to alert the necessary personnel and resolve the issue before significant time and financial resources were consumed. Without this data the problem would not have been discovered until much later in the production process resulting in significant additional cost.”

About Supply Dynamics: Supply Dynamics is the leading provider of material consolidation solutions known as “Material Demand Aggregation.” Located in Cincinnati Ohio, Supply Dynamics utilizes proprietary processes and IT solutions to provide OEM customers with real-time visibility and control over the materials that go into their finished parts – especially the materials that go into the parts made by their Tier 1 and Tier 2 outside part fabricators. Provided in a hosted “software as a service” model, the Supply Dynamics multi-enterprise platform exchanges critical-to-quality data with virtually any number of legacy MRP/ERP systems, providing customers with a single, unified view of how finished part materials are impacting their business. Supply Dynamics’ suite of web-based tools and reports allow customers to instantly forecast and negotiate common materials and monitor the timely order and supply of materials across their extended supply chain. This enables an OEM and its supply partners to know that materials being produced, ordered, and delivered are synchronized with actual finished part demand. It also allows the OEM to measure on-time delivery of raw materials to production sites and outside part fabricators, to standardize materials and to identify users for surplus, excess and obsolete materials. Material Demand Aggregation is applicable to numerous industries providing a means for OEMs to coordinate the actions of each link in the supply chain to dramatically improve efficiency and predictability of supply.(www.supplydynamics.com)
