Finished part transitions are a difficult road to navigate. The integrity of your process for executing a transition can often mean the difference between getting lower cost, quality parts across the dock on-time or getting no parts at all. From start to finish, eliminating variability is the name of the game. That is why Supply Dynamics brought together the best minds in Strategic Sourcing to create a Standard Transition Process for:
a. New Product Introductions, and
b. Domestic and Global Finished Part Transitions
Drawing on over 100 cumulative years of experience in global sourcing, the Supply Dynamics’ Standard Transition Process provides an on-line, interactive road map to help your Transition Team get it right the first time. The process provides improved transition team collaboration, program visibility, and the assignment of crystal clear roles and responsibilities to drive accountability. The hosted nature of the application allows the process to be accessed by all affected parties including OEM sites and sub-tier suppliers. Every step of the transition process has been outlined and thoroughly explained in an integrated, on-line, digital medium, accessible through a standard web-browser. The process contains three levels of visibility:
- Top-level Process Flow Diagram: A birds eye view of a best-in-class transition providing a simple high-level overview of the process
- Detailed Procedure Manual: Utilizing interactive drill down functionality, users can drill down on the Top Level Process Flow Diagram to view detailed, step-by-step work-instructions and determine who within an organization is responsible for completion of a task.
- Checklists and Templates: Accompanying the transition work instructions are over 50 checklists and templates. These MS Word and MS Excel documents comprise an on-line “tool kit” for reducing variability and improving the quality of decision making and communications between sites, and suppliers.
While no two transitions are the same, the Standard Transition Process may be easily customized to complement existing organizational structures, quality systems, and any existing customer processes. The Standard Transition process has been engineered to facility three types of transitions:
- Supplier to Supplier, Built-to-Print
- Shop to Supplier, Build-to-Print
- Development/alliance programs
